“I feel that there is a kind of complicit association between the used objects—a poetry of its previous use that I perceive and it inspires me, ” Natalia says.

A master in his field, David has been painting for more than 35 years and has previously won the d’Arcy Doyle Art Award and the People’s Choice Art Award at the Swell Sculpture Festival.
Tracie has also been referred to as a ‘celebrity artist’ following her exclusive three-year commission to create bespoke artwork for Oscar nominees and winners, with Hollywood legends such as Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Bradley Cooper, Tom Hanks, Anthony Hopkins and Charlize Theron owning a Tracie Eaton artwork.\\
Beyond The Sand Arts Festival 10th Anniversary
From afar her art looks impressionistic and minimalistic, but up close you can see an immense layering of coloured ‘impasto dots’ with an incredible sense of detail, texture, height and depth.
“Viewing the art from a range of perspectives offers an opportunity to appreciate the complexity and imagination of colour within the work, ” she says.
“While the world can be heavy at times, there is much joy and lightness and beauty to be found if only we can change our perspective, ” she says.

He recently held a solo exhibition, Balun, a Yugambeh word for river, at China Heights Gallery in Sydney, where he showcased an array of paintings that intuitively express the cleansing and healing nature of water.

The annual Sand Safari Arts Festival will return to the Gold Coast next March as Beyond the Sand for its 10th anniversary.
Beyond the Sand will transform Surfers Paradise into a captivating beachfront gallery of colour, movement and music with larger-than life artworks. The reimagined festival is putting a modern spin on the loved local classic.
The free multi-medium arts festival will be held across nine spectacular days and nights from the 13th to 21st of March 2021. The event will not only see a name change, but evolve beyond just ‘sandcastles’, showcasing eight large-scale installations as well as artworks that will travel from showrooms to Beyond the Sand’s beachside artist gallery.

The 2021 event will be circus-themed offering entertainment for the entire family. Featuring the annual Australian Sand Sculpting Championships, installations from local and nationally acclaimed artists, as well as circus performances, roving entertainment and workshops, attendees will be able to ‘step right up’ and learn new skills from performers and artists.
Major Events Gold Coast Director of Events and Festivals, Mark Duckworth, said the rebrand will provide room for the festival to grow and evolve as it forges ahead.
“This rebrand is the perfect way to represent the art community on the Gold Coast and further afield. Having the festival at the start of the year allows us to highlight the artistic flair and creativity that the Gold Coast has to offer year-round. We are excited to showcase a high calibre of talented artists exhibiting works at Beyond the Sand and continue to celebrate the cultural hub that is the Gold Coast” said Mr Duckworth.

The festival will still offer the best in sand sculptures, bringing 10 artists to compete in the annual Australian Sand Sculpting Championships and feature two large-scale circus-themed sculptures along the beachfront. In a sign of the times, voting will go digital in 2021 to crown the People’s Choice Award.
Iconic sculptor Dion Parker will return to the sand, as one of the local artists showcasing a range of work at the festival’s Artist Gallery. The Gold Coast local is thrilled to bring his multidisciplinary visual art to the foreshore once again.
“I’m really looking forward to taking part in the Beyond the Sand festival in 2021 for the 10th anniversary. The Australian art scene is often overlooked, so to be contributing to such a vibrant festival at the iconic Surfers Paradise beach, is an honour” said Mr Parker.
